Coach's Corner

CMBA is trying to ensure that our coaches have adequate tools and resources to help our players develop their skillset and have an enjoyable year at any level they play in. We also want our coaches to be confident they can run a successful program by supplying them with adequate knowledge and resources to have an enjoyable season as well, with the intent that they will have the desire to return and progress in there coach development. We have been working hard with trying to build up the CMBA Coach program and supply these resources to our coaches either through clinics, resources such as web info/booklets/practice plans or mentor-ship programs. This page will also be a useful tool to get our coaches the information to help them succeed within there role as a Coach. We plan to grow this program and this page will grow as we do so. Please check back as we continue to work on this program for the upcoming Season.

CMBA requirements & Baseball Alberta/Baseball Canada NCCP Information

Welcome returning and first time coaches to the upcoming baseball season, thank you for volunteering. I hope the season is rewarding for you as well as for your teams. CMBA along with Baseball Alberta accreditation meets the requirements to participate as a head or assistant coach at all levels of Baseball Canada and Western Canada Baseball Association Championships. All coaches MUST be registered in the NCCP system. Simply go to nccp.baseball.ca/register.php. New coaches will be required to pay $37.45 to enter the system and receive access to the Coach Initiation in Sport Module. Coaches will then have a choice to take either Coach Initiation in Baseball (Rally Cap) or Coach Initiation in Baseball (Fundamentals), depending on what level they plan to coach. Completing Coach Initiation in Baseball (Fundamentals) Online Module will enable coaches to register for in-person workshops. Coaches who have already taken the Level 1 Technical in the old NCCP system may check the box stating they have done so and the $37.45 fee will be waived.

CMBA encourages volunteers to coach our young athletes and endorses the education and training of all our Head and Assistant Coaches at all levels for the betterment of our Association and especially for the benefit of our children playing the great game of baseball. Coaches are mentors, motivators and leaders and along with parents and teachers, they can have a profound impact on the future of our children. It’s a great responsibility, and Canada’s two million coaches embrace it with passion and dedication. The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) gives coaches the confidence to succeed. When you take an NCCP workshop, you’ll not only gain sport-specific technical abilities, but also leadership and decision-making skills. NCCP training will open doors to new opportunities in coaching and in life.

We have to think about what kind of service we are providing for our children and we believe that these coach clinics are necessary. CMBA will help alleviate these costs by reimbursing you if you are selected as a coach or assistant coach for the upcoming season.

CMBA will NOT pay ANY fines levied by a Provincial or National body for lack of coaching certification.  This has been clearly explained to all coaches and will be considered a coach/team expense.
